Clerk arrested for forging signature of Patiala DC
Chandigarh: A case has been registered against a clerk at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Patiala after Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parey filed a complaint regarding forged signatures on arms license forms.
The accused, Praveen Kumar, who worked in the PLA branch of the office, was arrested by the Tripdi police station.
The investigation revealed that Kumar had been forging the Deputy Commissioner’s signature to approve arms license forms and had been involved in this illegal activity for a considerable period.
The fraudulent practice came to light when one of the forms with the forged signature reached Deputy Commissioner Parey.
Upon discovering the forgery, the Deputy Commissioner initiated a probe, leading to the identification of Praveen Kumar as the perpetrator. When questioned by the Deputy Commissioner, Kumar admitted to signing the forms and processing the fees without authorization.
