Appeals to residents to use chlorine tablets to disinfect drinking water

SAS Nagar: To protect residents from  Waterborne diseases, which are on the rise  post floods, the deputy commissioner, Aashika Jain has deputed three topmost functionaries of her team to monitor the health activities in their respective areas.
As per these orders, the ADC (General), Paramdeep Singh has been assigned with the task of Mohali Sub Division while ADC (Urban Development) Damanjit Singh Mann to oversee Derabassi Sub Division along with the urban area of Kharar. Similarly, ADC (Rural Development) Amit Bamby to observe the rural area of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district.
Expressing apprehension of breaking out of waterborne diseases like diarrhoea and cholera besides vector borne diseases Dengue and Malaria, she cautioned the officers Incharge to coordinate with health, MCs and Public Health Department to take immediate action in case of any spread of the diseases arises.
She added that post floods, it is common practice to contagion water borne and vector borne diseases due to waterlogged problems, impure water and mosquitos, so we should be careful to protect our residents from these diseases by taking preventive measures in time.
She also appealed to the residents not to intake water directly, first boil it and then cool down for a particular time to kill the bacteria.
Making an appeal to the residents to use chlorine tablets to disinfect drinking water, she added that following the emergence of diarrhoea cases at Balongi, robust sampling of water has been ordered as per SOP for early detection. The patients undergoing treatment are kept under monitoring and senior administrative officers besides medical teams have been deputed to maintain protective and preventive measures.
