After evacuating peoples safely, administration focuses on helping out farmers

Agriculture dept distributing fodder, feed and seed for sowing Basmati crop

Sultanpur Lodhi: After successfully saving the human lives in the flood-affected areas of Sultanpur Lodhi, now district administration has put full focus to take care of the livestock besides providing seeds/sapling to the farmers for next crop.

It is was worth mentioning that more than 450 people stuck in the flood have been safely evacuated.

Deputy Commissioner Captain Karnail Singh said that residents of nearby villages have played a significant role in relief operations during this natural disaster, for which the administration will remain indebted to them.

Farmers were being provided seeds namely 1509 , PR -126 and 1692 Basmati varieties for sowing the next crop, and the people of nearby villages have come forward to support this initiative, he added.

Meanwhile, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Balbir Chand informed that more than 200 quintal of dry fodder (silage) was distributed in affected villages, 25 quintals of feed has also been sent from Phagwara block, which was being distributed among the cattle owners.

Apart from this, green fodder trolleys are being brought daily from other areas of the district like Nadala, Kapurthala etc to take care of the livestock, said he.

ADO Sultanpur Lodhi Dr. Jaspal Singh and AEO Dr. Parminder Kumar said that farmers at Jainpur, Thattha, Doda Wazir, Mothanwal have sown paddy sapling for the flood-affected farmers, which will be ready in 20 to 25 days and help the farmers from flood hit areas to plant their next crop.
