Delhi-Ayodhya flight makes emergency landing in Chandigarh with 1-2 minutes of fuel left

Jalandhar: An IndiGo flight from Ayodhya to Delhi on April 13 narrowly avoided an accident. Due to adverse weather conditions in Delhi, the flight was unable to land. Upon landing in Chandigarh, it was discovered that the flight had only 2 minutes of fuel remaining, the matter came to light on Monday.

DCP Crime Satish Kumar of Delhi Police lodged a complaint via his social media account, as he was a passenger on the flight. However, Chandigarh Airport CEO Rakesh Sahai has refuted any such incident.

DSP Crime Satish Kumar of Delhi Police said on social media that IndiGo flight number 6E2702 departed from Ayodhya at 3:25 pm on April 13, with an expected arrival time in Delhi at 4:30 pm. However, approximately 15 minutes before landing, the pilot announced unfavorable weather conditions in Delhi.

DSP Crime said that the aircraft circled over Delhi and attempted to land twice, unsuccessfully. The pilot subsequently informed passengers that only 45 minutes of fuel remained, necessitating diversion to Chandigarh.

After the announcement, panic ensued among the passengers aboard the flight. Some passengers and crew members also vomited out of fear. The plane was announced to have 45 minutes of refueling time.

Following this, it landed at Chandigarh Airport at 6:10 pm after 115 minutes. Later, a crew member discovered that only 1 to 2 minutes of fuel remained in the aircraft. Many people expressed surprise at the entire incident.

Additionally, retired pilot Shakti Lumba has said on social media that IndiGo has neglected the safety of passengers. Action should be taken, as the aircraft was diverted immediately after two unsuccessful landings.
