Farmers to stop trains for 4 hours in Punjab, to make tolls free
Chandigarh: The farmers’ movement that began on February 13 in Punjab has escalated significantly. The firing of tear gas shells, rubber, and plastic bullets at farmers has further incensed other farmer organizations in Punjab.
Consequently, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has declared toll plazas in Punjab free from 11 am to 2 pm. Simultaneously, BKU Ugrahan plans to halt trains in six districts of Punjab from 12 noon to 4 pm.
Additionally, due to road and rail blockades, flight prices have surged up to seven times.
The United Front farmers announced that toll plazas across Punjab are free from 11 am to 2 pm today, with gates opened for vehicles. They also declared a nationwide shutdown yesterday, prohibiting any activities during this period.
This evening marks the third round of talks between farmers and the Centre, the first since the agitation began, focusing on farmers’ issues. However, on February 13-14, tear gas shells, rubber bullets, and plastic bullets were fired at farmers at the Shambhu, Khanauri, and Dabwali borders of Punjab.
