Final publication of photo voter list, now 1638712 voters in Jalandhar district 

21373 new voters added in the voters’ list 

Jalandhar: As per instructions of the Election Commission of India, the final publication of the photo voter list (prepared on the basis of eligibility date 1 January 2024) was done today at the district administrative complex according to which now there are a total of 16,38,712 voters in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal during the final publication handed over the hard and soft copies of the photo voter list to the representatives of the political parties. 
 
The Deputy Commissioner informed the representatives of the political parties that there are a total of 16,38,712 voters in the district including 21,373 new voters. He further said that the total voters include 8,52,546 male, 7,86,122 female and 44 third gender voters. 

According to the new voters’ list, 74 NRIs in the district have been registered as overseas voters besides 9851 specially-abled voters, 38790 voters between age 18-19 years and 35323 voters above 80 years of age. Apart from this, the service voter list was also published, according to which there are 1841 service voters in the district. 
 
Mr. Sarangal further informed that according to the program issued by the Election Commission of India regarding the special revision of the voter list, the initial publication of the voter list was done on October 27, 2023, on which claim and objection forms were received from the general public till December 31, 2023.  
 
He also stated that the special camps were also held on November 4-5 and December 2-3 to receive claims and objections through Booth Level Officers (BLOs).  He mentioned that the claims and objections received from the general public were settled by the Electoral Registration Officers by the fixed date of January 12, 2024. 
 
Giving information about the number of voters in the Vidhan Sabha Constituencies, the Deputy Commissioner said that after the final publication of the voter list, there are 201652 voters in the 30-Philaur assembly segment. Likewise,   a total of 193960 voters are in 31-Nakodar, 187177 in 37-Jalandhar Cantonment, 184179 in 33-Kartarpur, 183814 in 36-Jalandhar North, 181905 in 32-Shahkot, 171544 in 35-Jalandhar Central, 169104 in 34-Jalandhar West, and 38-  Adampur has a total of 165377 voters.
 
He further stated that during the summary revision, apart from the eligibility date of 1 January 2024, any eligible citizen, who is about to attain the age of 18 years on 1 April, 1 July or 1 October 2024 can fill up form No. 6 in advance, to become voter which will be considered in the concerned quarter of the year.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the representatives of political parties to motivate the youngsters to register as voters.  He said that the form can be filled on www.nvsp.in and voter helpline mobile app. On this occasion, Election Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, Election Kanoongo Rakesh Kumar and representatives of various political parties were present.
