FIR against Sarpanch, her husband in Sangrur for misappropriating government funds
Sangrur News: The sarpanch of Maidebas village in Sangrur and her husband allegedly grabbed Rs 10 lakh as panchayat land contract. A case has been registered against the duo at Chhajli police station for not depositing the money in the government treasury.
In his complaint to the police, Ishwar Singh, a resident of Maidebas village, said that he had taken the panchayat land on contract and another person, Buta Singh, had taken the village land on contract from the SC reserve quota.
He had deposited Rs 10.37 lakh with sarpanch Geeta Devi for the land taken on contract.
Sarpanch Geeta Devi and her husband Surendra Kumar did not deposit this amount in the government treasury with the intention of destroying it. When he came to know about this, he complained to the SP. After investigating the case, a case was registered against sarpanch Geeta Devi and her husband Surendra Kumar for conspiring and misappropriating government money.
