Punjab E News: In Himachal Pradesh, the situation in Punjab has worsened due to floods caused by the opening of flood gates of dams following heavy rains. On Thursday, four people died due to floods in Batala and Fazilka in Gurdaspur, while one person was washed away in Bhotalth in Kapurthala. He has not been traced yet, officials said.
Several villages in Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur have been evacuated. On Thursday, 15 trains of Ferozepur division were canceled due to floods. Hundreds of villages in eight districts of the state – Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka – have been hit by floods.
The situation in Punjab is not returning to normal due to the release of water from Bhakra and Pong dams.
Jaskaran Singh (14) and Dilpreet Singh (13), both minor cousins of village Dhirowal near Kasba Sri Hargobindpur in Batala, slipped and fell into the drain, killing both of them. Jaskaran was a student of Class X, while Dilpreet Singh was a student of Class IX. Both had come to see the flood water.
