Former militant Rattandeep Singh shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants

Chandigarh: Ratandeep Singh, a member of the Babbar Khalsa Tiger Force, was shot dead on Ropar Road in Nawanshahr, Punjab, late on Wednesday night.

Ratandeep’s nephew was also present with him at the time of the incident but did not suffer any injuries. The responsibility for this incident has been claimed by Nawanshahr’s notorious gangster, Gopi Nawanshahria.

Police have registered a case against Gopi and other shooters under various sections including murder and the Arms Act, and have begun an investigation. The postmortem of Ratandeep Singh was conducted at the government hospital in Nawanshahr on Thursday.

Nawanshahr SP Mukesh Sharma said the matter was being investigated. Ratandeep was arrested by the Punjab Police in 2014 and was associated with the Bhindranwale Tiger Force.
