Four people, including a woman, injured in blast in a coach of Howrah Mail in Punjab
Chandigarh: Four persons were injured in an explosion in a general class compartment of the Howrah Mail train near Sirhind railway station in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Saturday when a plastic bucket full of firecrackers exploded in a compartment of a train from Amritsar to Howrah, officials said.
Four passengers, including a woman, were injured in the incident.
GRP DSP Jagmohan Singh said the injured were rushed to the government hospital in Fatehgarh Sahib. Preliminary investigation revealed that the blast took place in a plastic bucket in the general class compartment of the train, in which some firecrackers were kept. An investigation into the incident is underway, he said.
