Punjab govt interfering in Sikh affairs at Kejriwal’s behest: Dhami
The SGPC has strongly opposed the Punjab government’s decision to add a clause to the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 at its own level, alleging that the action was being taken at the behest of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal with the intention of destroying the Panth. Addressing a press conference here today, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the Punjab government has no authority to amend or extend the Sikh GurdwaraAct, 1925 at its own level.
The Punjab government cannot tamper with the Act. Any amendment to it can only be made by Parliament.
