Goindwal thermal plant to start by June to tackle shortage of power supply in Punjab

Chandigarh: After acquiring the Goindwal thermal plant, the Punjab government has initiated preparations for its operation. The government aims to commence electricity generation in this plant by June, coinciding with the summer and paddy season. A dedicated committee has been established to oversee the plant. It is noteworthy that the Punjab government acquired this thermal plant for Rs 1080 crore.

With a capacity of 540 MW, the thermal plant had previously operated at only half its capacity. Plans are now underway to enhance its operational efficiency, ensuring a reliable electricity supply and preventing any inconvenience for the public.

The committee, led by Chief Engineer MR Bansal from Lehra Mohabbat Thermal Plant, comprises renowned experts in the field of thermal plants. Members include Lehra Thermal Deputy Chief Engineer Inderjit Singh Sandhu, Deputy Chief Engineer Fuel KK Bansal, Ropar Thermal Plant Monitoring Engineer Ranjit Singh, Chief Auditor Rajan Gupta, Lehra Thermal Plant Engineer Baljinder Singh, and Ropar Thermal Engineer Gurinder Singh.
