Governor writes letter to Bhagwant Mann to fulfil his ‘constitutional duties’

Punjab News: The ongoing war of words between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Governor Banwarilal Purohit has reached an interesting turn. On Tuesday, the governor launched a counter-attack on the chief minister. The Governor wrote a letter to him in which he has said that the state government is showing apathy in responding to the letters written by him. He has asked CM Bhagwant Mann to fulfill the constitutional duty.
The governor wrote in the letter, “Earlier, the court had held that both the Chief Minister and the Governor are constitutional functionaries. They have specified roles and obligations as laid down by the Constitution.
He wrote that the Governor is empowered under Article 167(B) to seek information from the Chief Minister on matters relating to administrative matters and statutory resolutions of the State. Whenever such information is sought, the chief minister is obliged to give it.
Not giving the information sought by the Governor is an insult to the constitutional duty, he wrote in the letter.
