Gyaspura gas tragedy: NGT reopens probe
An inquiry has been initiated once again into the accident caused by a sewage gas leak in Ghiyaspura area.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) team today again reached the site of Ghiyaspura where 11 people died due to sewage gas leak on April 30. During this time, raids were conducted in many factories and investigations were conducted. Samples of sewage were taken in the area.
During this time, the members of the NGT team interacted with the factory owners. The team included Bharat Kumar Sharma from the Central Pollution Board, Raja Ram from the Ministry of Environment, Dugan Lal Jakhar from the Indian Institute of Technology and the NDRF. The NGT team has started a fresh probe into the matter.
On this occasion, some people who were present at the time of the accident were also talked to. Two months ago, the NGT had expressed dissatisfaction over the probe by the inquiry committee set up by the administration.
The NGT came into action after no evidence was found in the case so far. After this, the committee was formed once again. The new team will identify the cause of the gas leak and those responsible for it.
