High Court to hear plea today seeking cancellation of parole of Dera chief Ram Rahim

Punjabenews: The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear today a petition filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) against the parole of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. SGPC has filed a PIL in the High Court seeking cancellation of Gurmeet’s parole.

Last week, SGPC member Bhagwant Singh Sialka had also filed a PIL on the issue, but he withdrew it due to some technical reason.
Now the SGPC has passed a resolution challenging the Haryana government’s order to grant parole by filing a Public Interest Litigation through Sialka.
In the petition, the SGPC has termed Gurmeet Singh’s parole as endangering the sovereignty, integrity of India and a threat to maintaining public harmony, peace and social bond in the country.
