Jathedar expresses grief over farmer’s death, compares Khanauri incident with Jallianwala Bagh

Amritsar: Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has expressed grief over the death of young farmer Shubhakaran, who was killed in firing at the Khanauri border.

Giani Raghbir Singh has compared this entire incident to the atrocities committed on Indians by the British in Jallianwala Bagh. He said that this incident is condemnable to occur in a democratic country.

Giani Raghbir Singh said in a message that the incident of the death of a Punjabi youth and the serious injuries to many due to direct firing by police on farmers near Khanauri are very unfortunate. These farmers are striving to feed the country, not the infiltrators of another country whom the government is targeting by firing direct bullets at their heads and chests.

The governments have used their rights to halt the demonstrations of the farmers heading to Delhi; it is nothing less than the atrocities committed by the British against the Indians at Jallianwala Bagh, he said.
