Lakha Sidhana launches ‘Save Punjab and Punjabiyat’ yatra
Chandigarh: Lakhvir Singh Lakha Sidhana, a social worker initiated the Punjab and Punjabiyat Bachao Yatra today by offering prayers at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib during the Maghi Mela.
Addressing reporters before embarking on the yatra, Lakha Sidhana expressed that no political party in Punjab, whether it be the Akali Dal, Congress, or the Aam Aadmi Party government, has adequately addressed the genuine issues faced by the state. Consequently, Punjab is currently grappling with a significant crisis.
Sidhana highlighted the scarcity of water for irrigation, the continuous depletion of groundwater, and the challenges faced by Punjab’s youth, either succumbing to substance abuse or experiencing a surge in migration to foreign countries. Despite these pressing concerns, no political party has demonstrated a serious commitment to tackling water-related issues, drug problems, or the escalating youth migration—a matter of profound concern.
“In this yatra, we aim to engage with the residents of villages across the state or the public to initiate a dialogue on the authentic issues affecting Punjab and explore viable solutions,” Sidhana stated.
On this occasion, Sidhana declined to disclose the yatra’s route, emphasizing that it would commence from the current location, halt at village Lelewala, and subsequent daily routes would be determined thereafter.
