Ludhiana Panchayat Department: Sarpanches, officers accused of embezzling Rs 100 crore

Chandigarh News: After the Pathankot land scam, another scam has rocked the rural development and panchayats department. A case of fraud of Rs 100 crore has come to light by the sarpanches of six villages of Ludhiana. After the matter came to light, Cabinet Minister Laljit Bhullar has also ordered an inquiry. 
The case pertains to the gram panchayats of Salempur, Sekhowal, Selki Ana, Bokargujran, Kadiana Khurd and Dhanansu villages. 
        The Punjab government had acquired 986 acres of land for the Cycle Valley project. The panchayats had received Rs 300 crore in this regard in which sarpanches and officers have been accused of embezzling Rs 100 crore.  
     The entire case is from 2017 to 2021. Within this project, about 8.5 km long forelane road was to be built on 100 feet road. After the matter came to light, the cabinet minister has ordered an inquiry into the matter and sought a report in this regard within seven days. A letter has also been issued in this regard.
