Former Congress MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa arrested for illegal mining in Pathankot
Chandigarh: Taking a firm stance against illegal mining, the Punjab government initiated significant action on Friday in Pathankot. Former Congress MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa was arrested by the administration on charges related to orchestrating illegal mining activities.
It’s worth noting that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has affirmed its ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption and illegal practices by apprehending former Congress MLA Joginder Pal from Bhoa due to his involvement in unlawful mining activities.
The incident unfolded on Friday when illegal mining was discovered at a crusher site owned by the wife of former MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa near the Ravi River.
Upon arrival, the SDO Mining confirmed substantial mining operations carried out using Poclain machines and tippers.
Joginder Pal Bhoa attempted to obstruct the legal proceedings, prompting the administration to arrest him and an associate named Surjeet Singh alias Laddi on-site.
A Poklane machine and a tipper were also seized from the location. Based on the mining officer’s statement, a case will be filed against all the accused, including former MLA Joginder Pal Bhoa.
