Matter of kirtan broadcast, Government and SGPC must sit together to find a solution amicably: Akal Takht Jathedar

Amritsar News: As the Punjab government passed a resolution in the Vidhan Sabha on the telecast of kirtan at the Golden Temple here, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh asked the government not to interfere in the affairs of the SGPC, the highest body of the Sikhs.
In a video statement, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said that this action of the government is creating confusion in the Sikh panth.
In the case of Gurbani broadcast, both sides should sit together and resolve the issue through mutual dialogue. Although the issue of transmission of Gurbani is not related to Maryada, but after its transmission, it is associated with Maryada. He has expressed apprehension that if the broadcast of Gurbani is left open, then it will become an issue of maryada in the future.
He asked the Sikh MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other parties not to be in a hurry to bring and pass a resolution in the matter.
The issue should be resolved together. He has directed the SGPC to immediately implement the order issued by the Panj Singh Sahiban regarding the telecast of kirtan. A report on the action taken so far in this regard should be submitted to the Akal Takht.
Panj Singh Sahiban had asked the SGPC to start its own channel to broadcast the kirtan.
