On AAP’s complaint EC sends notice to SAD chief for code violation

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal led the Punjab Bachao Yatra, using a child for his campaign, a move criticized by the Aam Aadmi Party.

Following the complaint, the Election Commission issued a notice to Badal, prompting him to respond. Additionally, the SAD shared a video depicting children climbing onto a tractor in Raikot and chanting slogans supportive of the party.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema lodged a complaint with the Election Commission’s Chandigarh office against Badal, leading the State Returning Officer to instruct the District Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter.

Despite the SAD’s response to the notice, the Election Commission remains dissatisfied with it, according to sources.
