Opposition to amendment Gurdwara Act 1925: SGPC to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah

Punjab E News: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will soon meet Home Minister Amit Shah. For this, SGPC urged the like-minded organizations to accompany them to raise the issue jointly.
The SGPC will meet Home Minister Shah and seek his intervention in the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 Amendment Bill passed in the Assembly by the Punjab government.
The Punjab government had approved the amendment to the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 in a special session of the Punjab Assembly recently. But the SGPC lodged a protest over this and termed it a violation of the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925. According to SGPC Principal Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, no amendment to this Act can be done without the approval of the Managing Committee.
Earlier, the SGPC had also called a special general assembly on June 26 against the Act passed by the Punjab government in the Assembly. In which the SGPC refused to accept the Act passed in the Punjab Assembly.
After this, the SGPC chief also went to meet Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit. Governor Purohit assured President Dhami that he would take steps as per rules.
