Parvinder kaur Banga wins NRI Sabha polls – Becomes first women president

Jalandhar: The NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday said that NRI Sabha Punjab would play its role proactively to redress the grievances of the Punjabis settled across the globe.

    Congratulating Parvinder Kaur Banga who won the election of NRI Sabha President in Jalandhar, Mr. Dhaliwal said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed for welfare of the NRIs and it would organize 6 NRI Milinis in February and the first milni will be held on February 3 at Pathankot.

    He said that NRI Punjabis had a special contribution in the prosperity of Punjab. He said that the state government would launch several welfare policies and programs for the NRI and would extend fulsome support to the NRI Sabha Punjab.

    Dhaliwal also extended invitation to the NRIs for Milinis event and said that all issues of the NRIs including land-property, business and family disputes will be resolved at the spot.

   He said that the state government had received 605 grievances during previous’ NRI Milinis held in last year of which 595 were already solved.

   In the polls, Kaur secured 147 votes while other candidate Jasvir Singh Gill bagged 14 votes and seven voters were rejected. By winning the poll, she becomes first women president of NRI Sabha , Punjab .

   Prominent amongst present on the occasion included MP Sushil Kumar Rinku, MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann, AAP leader Deepak Bali, ADC (G) Major Dr Amit Mahajan, SDMs Jai Inder Singh, Balbir Raj Singh and others.
