PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment works of 508 railway stations including 22 in Punjab
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually laid the foundation stone for works related to the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country. These 508 stations are spread over 27 States and Union Territories.
Of these, 22 are from Punjab, 15 from Haryana, 55 each from UP and Rajasthan, 49 from Bihar, 44 from Maharashtra, 37 from West Bengal, 34 from Madhya Pradesh, 32 from Assam, 25 from Odisha, 21 from Gujarat, 20 from Jharkhand, 18 each from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and 13 from Karnataka, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The redevelopment works will cost Rs 24,470 crore and are primarily aimed at providing state-of-the-art and world-class quality quality facilities to passengers and passengers.
An amount of Rs 5198 crore has been allocated for railway stations in Chandigarh and Punjab under this project related to rejuvenation of railway stations. 22 railway stations in Punjab will get Rs 4762 crore and Chandigarh railway station will get Rs 436 crore.
Ludhiana Junction has been allocated the highest amount of Rs 460 crore in Punjab.
