Police machinery deployed as action looms over fasting farmer leader Dallewal
Chandigarh: Patran city witnessed heavy deployment of police machinery on Monday, including water cannons, tear gas shells, and other vehicles, amid speculations of imminent police action to shift farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal for medical treatment.
Dallewal, who has been on a fast unto death for 35 days at the Dhabai Gujjaran (Khanauri) border, may be moved in compliance with Supreme Court directions.
In response, farmers have been mobilising since Sunday night to counter any action. Late at night, Dallewal himself went live on Facebook, urging supporters to gather at the protest site.
At the Dhabai Gujjaran border, farmers have reinforced their presence by blocking vehicles with trolleys on the road leading to Materialpura. Security around the protest stage has been heightened, with every individual heading toward it being closely monitored.
The situation remains tense as farmers continue their calls for solidarity, warning against any attempts to disrupt the ongoing agitation.
