Police put Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh’s father under house arrest
Mohali: The police on Tuesday morning cordoned off the residence of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh and placed his father, Tarsem Singh, under house arrest.
Sources revealed that Tarsem Singh had planned to join the National Insaaf Morcha in SAS Nagar (Mohali) to demand the release of bandi Singhs (Sikh prisoners). Acting preemptively, the police surrounded the house early in the morning to prevent his participation.
Speaking to reporters, Tarsem Singh criticized the move, calling it an act of “bullying.” He said, “We planned to join the National Justice Front yesterday, but now the police have surrounded us.”
Expressing his frustration, he added, “This is happening in the midst of a democracy. A situation is being created where we cannot even raise our voices against such bullying.” He also accused the administration of stifling free speech by not allowing people to voice their concerns.
The incident has sparked criticism, with many questioning the curtailment of democratic rights.
