Police recover seven revolvers after encounter in Jalandhar
Chandigarh: An encounter between police and two suspected gangsters in Jalandhar’s Kangniwal village left two individuals injured, including one of the suspects.
Two policemen also sustained injuries during the exchange of gunfire. The gangsters are reportedly linked to the Lainda faction.
According to sources, Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma received intelligence about armed individuals hiding in the village, allegedly preparing for a weapons deal. Acting swiftly, police surrounded the area early in the morning.
The suspects opened fire on the police, prompting officers to retaliate. During the exchange, one of the suspects, reportedly 17 years old, was injured and rushed to a hospital, while the other was apprehended.
Seven revolvers were recovered from the suspects, and further investigations are underway.
