Punjab Budget Session begins today

Chandigarh: The budget session of the Punjab government is set to commence today amidst expectations of a tumultuous atmosphere. Opposition parties aim to challenge the AAP government on various issues, including the farmers’ agitation and the death case of Shubhkaran Singh. Simultaneously, the government plans to adopt an assertive stance.

Under the guise of the budget, the government seeks to garner public support ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Governor BL Purohit will inaugurate the session with his address, although disruptions marred the event last year.

The Punjab Legislative Assembly’s budget session will kick off on Friday with the Governor’s speech, followed by tributes to departed leaders in the afternoon.

Subsequently, there will be a break on March 2nd and 3rd. The debate on the Governor’s address is scheduled for March 4th, lasting only one day. The government is slated to present its budget on March 5th, followed by a budget debate the next day.

March 7th will be an unofficial day for private bills, while March 8th, 9th, and 10th will be government holidays. Legislative business is scheduled for March 11th and 12th, featuring bill introductions. March 13th and 14th are designated as unofficial days for private matters, with bills also expected on March 15th, the session’s adjournment date.
