Punjab bypolls: BJP features Sunil Jakhar with ‘turbaned’ PM Modi in campaign video
Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has highlighted Sunil Jakhar in its campaign for the upcoming by-elections in Punjab, showcasing him alongside a “turbaned” Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The campaign video, shared on BJP Punjab’s account on ‘X’, calls for voters to back the party, stating, “If Punjab has to be saved, it has to be made the BJP win.”
The video’s tagline, “Baaki gallan Shadho, Punjab di gal zaroori hai” (Forget everything else, Punjab’s issues are crucial), aligns with Jakhar’s consistent stance on prioritizing the concerns of Punjabis, particularly farmers.
In the video, only Jakhar and PM Modi appear, surrounded by party workers and supporters.
Jakhar, who previously stepped down as party president following the Lok Sabha elections, has returned to the forefront of BJP’s campaign.
His re-emergence comes after PM Modi’s visit to Chandigarh and Panchkula for official events on October 17.
Jakhar had earlier expressed gratitude to the prime minister via a tweet for extending the Kartarpur Corridor agreement with Pakistan for another five years.
