Punjab Congress in-charge pays obeisance at Golden Temple; ducks queries over alliance with AAP in Punjab
Devendra Yadav, the newly appointed head of Punjab Congress, commenced his tour of Punjab on Monday and paid obeisance at Golden Temple.
Speaking to the media, Devendra Yadav clarified that he won’t comment on seat sharing with AAP at this moment, emphasizing the need for preliminary discussions.
This marks his inaugural visit since assuming responsibility for Punjab Congress. His key challenges include navigating an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party and resolving the internal discord between former Prime Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and other leaders.
Following his visit to the Golden Temple, Devendra Yadav will pay homage at the Durgiana Temple and Ram-Teerth at 1 pm before heading directly to Chandigarh. PPCC President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding, Partap Singh Bajwa, and former President Navjot Singh Sidhu have also arrived in Amritsar to extend a welcome.
In Delhi, an INDIA alliance meeting is scheduled today, focusing on discussions about Congress seat sharing with AAP in Delhi and Punjab. While the Indian National Congress gears up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, some Punjab Congress leaders, apart from MPs Ravneet Bittu and Navjot Singh Sidhu, remain hesitant to endorse this alliance.
The Tuesday meetings in Chandigarh may delve into these concerns and solicit suggestions from Punjab Congress leaders.
