Punjab government scraps NOC requirement from registry process
Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has approved a proposal to remove the requirement for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in the property registry process across the state.
This move, announced by the Punjab government, is aimed at providing basic facilities to residents of unapproved colonies.
The new regulation, part of the Punjab Apartment-Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024, was unanimously passed by the Punjab Assembly on September 3, before being sent to the Governor for final approval.
The law stipulates that while plots in unapproved colonies will be regularized, illegal colonies themselves will not be legalized.
Furthermore, the law introduces stringent measures against the development of illegal colonies, including heavy fines and strict penalties for those found guilty of such activities.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the bill would provide significant relief to ordinary citizens.
