Punjab govt decided to give required budget grant to the Punjabi University
Chandigarh: The punjab government has decided to give a budgetary grant on the demand of the Punjabi university. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Vice Chancellor Prof Arvind.
A spokesperson of the university said that meetings were held with Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary, Finance Department and Principal Secretary (Higher Education) with the Vice Chancellor and other officials of the university, in which the government made it clear that the full grant required (Rs 30 crore per month) demanded by the university was being given. The university should send a bill for the amount due for the first quarter.
The Vice Chancellor thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and officials concerned. The university has sent the bill of the amount due for the first quarter to the government today.
The Vice Chancellor expressed the hope that in this environment, teachers, staff and students will put their full efforts for the development of the university in every aspect.
