Punjab Health Ministry on alert as human metapneumovirus cases reported in India

Chandigarh: Amid global concerns over the spread of human metapneumovirus (HMPV), the Union Health Ministry has issued an advisory after cases were reported in India. This infection, originating from China, has raised alarms, prompting all states to maintain strict vigilance.

While the Health Ministry has assured citizens there is no need for panic, it emphasized the importance of staying alert and adhering to preventive measures.

In Punjab, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued specific instructions to tackle the spread of HMPV and outlined the state’s preparedness. The government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary precautions to prevent a potential outbreak.
