Tableau of PSPCL get first, Co-operative dept and SVEEP win second and third prizes

Jalandhar: A total of 12 tableaux from different departments showcased the development works and welfare schemes of the Punjab government during the Republic Day event held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium on Friday.

The tableaus of PSPCL was awarded the top prize during this year’s Republic Day event followed by the Co-operative department and SVEEP which bagged second and third prizes respectively.

A committee headed by ADC (G) Major Dr Amit Mahajan along with SDM-2 Balbir Raj Singh and Red Cross Secretary Inder Dev Singh Minhas selected the winners.

The Department of health and family welfare in its tableau displayed an ambitious program of the Punjab government Aam Aadmi Clinics. 55 such health clinics have been offering medical and diagnostic services besides free medicines to the people in Jalandhar.

The District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE) showcased the efforts made to facilitate jobs, self-employment, and career counseling to unemployed youth through its tableau.

The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department’s tableau exhibited stubble management initiatives and other programs, whereas District Election office (SVEEP) displayed voter registration methods including 1950-helpline, voter helpline mobile app in its tableau, the tableau of Animal Husbandry, fishery, and dairy development jointly demonstrated loan schemes, training programs, co-operative department presented about common service centres, new dairy plant, Rural development and panchayats department’s tableau showcased about MG-Nrega, model playground, Aajeevika Mission, self-help groups.

Besides, the PSPCL department showed historic achievements including purchase of a new private thermal plant, zero bills for 90% of households, setting up new 66-KV power substations, fulfillment of the peak demand for electricity, and other efforts made during the last year, in its tableau.
