SGPC sends legal notice to X over fake account

Amritsar: The SGPC has initiated action against social media platform X (formerly Twitter) over a fake X account of it and has sent a legal notice to X, Twitter in this matter. The legal notice has been sent by advocate Amanbir Singh, legal advisor to the SGPC, as per the decision of its internal committee held on November 20.

In the notice, he said that spreading and promoting hate propaganda against any religion or religious institution under the policy of parody accounts by social media platforms like X is in violation of the Indian Penal System, Information Technology Act 2001 and Information Technology Rules 2021. This incident is being done to hurt the religious sentiments and faith of the Sikhs.
