Sukhpal Khaira gets no relief from HC, next hearing on Nov 17

Chandigarh News: Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira was not granted relief by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for November 17. During today’s hearing, a lengthy debate ensued between the advocate general of Punjab and Sukhpal Khaira’s lawyer.
Khaira’s lawyer mentioned that the accounts, alleged to be linked to drug money, actually belong to his personal assistant. He asserted that the substantial earnings amassed over 15 years represent his agricultural income, totaling Rs 26 lakh annually. He clarified that one account receives his salary from Punjab, another belongs to his PA, and the mentioned phone number also belongs to his assistant.
The high court directed the preparation of a synopsis to be submitted to Khaira’s counsel by Thursday morning. Subsequently, on Friday, Khaira’s lawyer, Chaudhary, will present his counterarguments.
