Two Pakistani spies arrested in Punjab as border areas begin returning to normal

Chandigarh: Two suspected Pakistani spies were arrested by Malerkotla police on Sunday, shortly after the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
The duo is accused of sending sensitive information about Indian Army movements to the Pakistan High Commission. Their interrogation is currently underway, officials said.
Meanwhile, the situation in Punjab’s border areas is gradually stabilising. Education Minister Harjot Bains announced that all schools and colleges will reopen from Monday, May 12.
However, schools in Barnala, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, and Pathankot—districts adjacent to the Pakistan border—will remain closed as directed by their respective district collectors.
Authorities in Batala, Ferozepur, and Pathankot districts of Gurdaspur also appealed to residents to observe a blackout on Sunday night.
In Pathankot, when many residents failed to comply, the administration cut off electricity supply, plunging the entire city into darkness.
