UK national dances with joy as Punjab Police recover his stolen phone

Chandigarh: In Ludhiana, Punjab Police successfully recovered and returned a mobile phone stolen from a British national, bringing an end to his ordeal.

The foreign visitor, identified as Mathew from the UK, had his Samsung phone snatched on January 19 by bike-borne miscreants.

According to DCP Shubham Agarwal, the accused, Akash, a resident of Gurdev Nagar, was arrested, and the stolen phone was handed back to Mathew.

“Mathew came to Ludhiana on January 8. He lodged a complaint after the theft, and our team worked to track down the accused. Mathew thanked the police for their swift action,” Agarwal said.

Mathew expressed his gratitude, highlighting the critical role the phone played during his trip.

“My phone contained my emails, messages, photos, tickets, and other vital information. I didn’t think it would be recovered, but the Punjab Police made it possible. I am very impressed with their work.”

Delighted with the police’s efforts, Mathew even danced his way to the police station to collect his phone.
