‘Upset over no new posting’, IAS officer resigns in Punjab

Chandigarh: A 2015-batch IAS officer in Punjab, Karnail Singh, resigned on Wednesday reportedly after not receiving any new posting subsequent to his removal as the deputy commissioner of Kapurthala on January 30.

Sources close to Singh said that he was “upset” about not being assigned any work. Singh has submitted his resignation to Chief Secretary Anurag Verma; however, it must be approved by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and then cleared by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.

CM Mann is currently in Delhi, where he was scheduled to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar jail. Sources revealed that CM Mann will return to Punjab on Friday.
