With 24954 MT Of Paddy Lifting In Single Day, Jalandhar Tops In Punjab

Jalandhar News: With earnest efforts by the administration, the district has secured first position in the state by lifting 24954 MT of paddy in a single day across Punjab. It was the third consecutive day that the district tops the state in lifting of procured paddy for hassle free procurement in 81 Mandis of the district .

    Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that a total of 208861 MT of paddy had been arrived in the grain markets so far of which 206474 MT procured by the agencies which becomes 99 % of the arrival.

    He said that on Friday, a total of 24954 MT of paddy was lifted from the grain markets of the Jalandhar which was the highest figure in a single day by any district.

    Jalandhar is followed by Patiala with 19015 MT, Kapurthala with 17744 MT and Hoshiarpur with 15459 MT of paddy.

RS 428 CRORE PAID TO FARMERS BEFORE THE GIVEN TIME FRAME AGAINST RS. 357 CRORE

    Mr. Sarangal also said that the payments worth Rs 428 crore against Rs 357 crore were also cleared to the farmers.

    Sarangal added that the district administration was committed to ensure timely procurement, lifting and payment so that farmers do not face any kind of problem during the entire operation.

DIRECTS OFFICIALS TO ENSURE PROMPT LIFTING OF CROP

    He directed officials tasked with procurement to ensure lifting of crops within stipulated time frame after arrival. The Deputy Commissioner asked the officials to maintain this ranking throughout the season besides extending helping hand to the farmers during the whole season. He said that all out efforts were made to facilitate the farmers for selling their harvest.

    The Deputy Commissioner mentioned that he would personally monitor the purchase, lifting, and payment process in the district besides reviewing the procurement daily.

     He said that the entire procurement operation would be accomplished smoothly as any kind of negligence would be dealt with strictly.
