Zira liquor factory case: 48 protesters get bail
Ferozepur: As many as 48 protesters, who were arrested for protesting against the closure of a liquor factory at Zira in Ferozepur, have been granted bail by a court here. A joint front sit-in is underway in front of the liquor factory. People from around 40 villages and other farmers have been continuously demanding the closure of the Zira liquor factory.
On December 18, the Punjab Police lifted the sit-in, which was held about 1 km away from one of the gates of the factory. Meanwhile, the police arrested the protesters on the charge of stopping government vehicles.
The high court has directed the Punjab government to submit the report of the committee constituted within two weeks. The Punjab government has constituted four different committees in this regard. All experts from Punjab have been included in it.
