Growing concern over alliance with AAP, Punjab Congress leadership to meet party high command today
An important meeting is scheduled today in Delhi with the high command of Punjab Congress. The agenda includes discussions on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a strategy to contest Punjab elections in collaboration with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as part of the INDIA alliance.
The meeting aims to gauge leaders’ opinions on seat sharing between the parties and is likely to discuss the matter concerning Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The newly appointed in-charge of Punjab Congress, Devendra Yadav, emphasized the importance of gathering opinions from leaders and supporters of AAP, a key member of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance for the Lok Sabha elections.
He stressed that the sentiments of the public will be respected, reaffirming the strength of the Congress organization in Punjab.
Furthermore, several senior leaders who had previously departed from the party are expected to rejoin. However, the decision regarding an alliance with AAP rests with the party high command. Additionally, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has commented on seat sharing, stating that it will align with the state’s conditions and will follow an open and closed approach.
