Farmer leader Sarwan Pandher arrested for protesting at Shambhu border
Chandigarh: Four farmer leaders, including Punjab’s farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, who were leading the agitation at the Shambhu border, have been arrested in Tamil Nadu.
On Saturday, farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher, Gurmeet Singh Mangat, Manjit Singh Rai, and Harvinder Singh Masania reached Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, the police arrested four farmers in Coimbatore district.
The farmers were burning the effigy of the central government here. Before that, the police stopped the farmer leaders. Pandher also had an argument with Tamil Nadu about this. After the death of Shubhakaran, farmers who were peacefully protesting on the Haryana-Punjab border at Shambhu and Khanauri borders are now going to intensify the agitation after the arrest of Navdeep Singh.
On the call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Farmer-Mazdoor Morcha, farmers protested against the central government and burnt effigies across the country, including Haryana and Punjab, on April 7.
