Leopard dies after getting stuck in fence in Birampur forest

Chandigarh: A leopard was found dead on Monday morning after being trapped in an iron wire fence surrounding a white garden in the Birampur forest area, police said on Tuesday.

The incident was reported by Garhshankar Forest Range Officer Rajpal Singh and Forest Guard Ramanpreet Kaur, who alerted authorities.

Police have registered a case against the orchard owner for allegedly violating the Wildlife Protection Act, 2022, based on a complaint filed by Singh.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the leopard’s death, officials added.
