Farmers’ talks with central government continue in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The sixth round of talks between protesting farmers and the central government began in Chandigarh, with discussions centered on demands, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) on crops.

Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Pralhad Joshi, and Piyush Goyal represented the government, while Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, and Lal Chand Kataruchak attended on behalf of the state government.

The meeting included 28 farmer leaders, led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) chief Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher. Dallewal, who has been unwell, was brought to Chandigarh in an ambulance from the Khanauri border.

As the meeting commenced, Shivraj Singh Chouhan approached Dallewal, bent down, and inquired about his health before engaging with other farmer leaders.

Meanwhile, Pandher said that if the meeting does not yield a positive outcome, farmers plan to march to Delhi on February 25.
