Making Punjab’s Cities Garbage-Free is the Top Priority of State Government: Dr. Ravjot Singh

* Local Government Minister meets sanitation workers, sewermen and fire brigade employees’ unions; assures early resolution of legitimate demands 

Chandigarh, April 23

Making Punjab’s cities garbage-free is the primary objective of the state government and achieving this goal requires cooperation from citizens, sanitation workers and sewermen.

Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Wednesday held a meeting with representatives of the Safai Sewak, Sewermen and Fire Brigade Union at the Municipal Bhawan. He admired sanitation workers, sewermen and fire brigade personnel, describing them as the backbone of the department.

Dr. Singh stated that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the welfare of all sections of society, including sanitation workers, sewermen, and fire brigade personnel. He assured that every possible step would be taken to ensure their well-being.

After hearing the unions’ demands, the Cabinet Minister said that the grievances of sanitation workers, sewermen, and fire brigade employees across Punjab’s cities would be considered sympathetically, with legitimate demands resolved promptly in a time-bound manner.

Dr. Ravjot Singh assured that all issues resolvable at the committee, corporation or department level would be addressed soon. He added that necessary action would also be taken on demands requiring intervention from the state government or other departments.

On this occasion ACS Local Govt. Tejvir Singh, Director Gurpreet Singh Khaira and other Senior Officials, Representatives of various Unions included Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Board Outsource Employees Union, Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Board Employees Contract Workers and Labour Union, Municipal Employees Action Committee Punjab and Fire Brigade Outsource Employees Union Punjab were present.
