High Court stays sacked SSP Rajjit Singh Hundal from being declared proclaimed offender for a week

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today stayed for a week the process of declaring former SSP Rajjit Singh a proclaimed offender in an FIR lodged against him in a case related to drug trafficking and other charges. Along with this, he has also been given the same time to file an anticipatory bail petition.
While filing the petition, Rajjit Singh said that all the action taken against him is completely wrong. The order to dismiss him has also been issued keeping in mind the rules. The process of declaring the petitioner a fugitive and a lookout notice against him has also been issued against the laid down procedure. The petitioner has appealed to the High Court to hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI.
The High Court had questioned the rationale of the petition on this. After hearing the arguments of the petitioner during the second hearing, the High Court has now given Rajjit Singh a week’s time to file an anticipatory bail plea. Along with this, the process of declaring him a fugitive during this period has also been stopped.
The court said that the anticipatory bail plea will be heard first, after which other subjects will be looked into.
