New Delhi: Fresh clashes were reported in Connaught Place shortly after midnight on Wednesday as the protest over the alleged NEET (UG) 2026 paper leak continued in the national capital.
According to reports, a section of the crowd allegedly targeted Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel and pelted stones at a police vehicle near Janpath, prompting a fresh security response.
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced that protesters would no longer raise the slogan “Azadi” during demonstrations. Party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the organisation would instead encourage participants to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” He said India had already attained independence through the sacrifices of freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi.
Amid the ongoing agitation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said those responsible for the alleged paper leak would not be spared and would face the maximum punishment permitted under the law. Speaking publicly on the issue for the first time since the protests began, the Prime Minister said the paper leak was not a partisan issue and should not be politicised.
Following the violence during the recent CJP demonstrations, Delhi Police has registered 10 FIRs at different police stations in connection with the clashes.
Meanwhile, a CJP spokesperson said Union Minister J.P. Nadda had invited representatives of the organisation for a meeting scheduled for 12 noon on Wednesday as efforts continued to address the situation.
