Thousands of farmers march towards CM residence in Bhopal, demand MSP procurement of moong

Bhopal: Thousands of farmers from across Madhya Pradesh gathered in Bhopal on Tuesday and marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence, demanding 100% government procurement of the moong crop and reforms in the state’s fertiliser distribution system.

The protesters said they would continue their agitation and camp at the site until the government accepted their demands.

Heavy police deployment and barricading were put in place near the Veer Savarkar Setu to prevent the farmers from advancing towards the Chief Minister’s residence, leading to a tense standoff between the protesters and security personnel.

The demonstration and traffic restrictions caused major congestion across several parts of the city. Long traffic jams were reported on Hoshangabad Road, around AIIMS Bhopal, and on other key routes, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The administration said efforts were underway to manage the situation and restore smooth traffic movement, while security arrangements were tightened in view of the ongoing protest.
