Ukraine Drone Attack Targets Russia’s Gazprom Salavat Oil Refinery, Fire Reported 1,300 Km Inside Russia

Punjab E Neww (PEN News): Ukraine has reportedly carried out a long-range drone attack on a major oil refining and petrochemical facility in Russia’s Bashkortostan region, in what is being described as another major strike on Russia’s energy infrastructure.

According to Ukraine’s General Staff, drones targeted the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Salavat during a nighttime operation. The facility is located around 1,300 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

Fire Reported at Gazprom Salavat Oil Complex

Following the reported drone attack, a fire broke out at the industrial facility. Russian authorities acknowledged that a fire had occurred in an industrial area and reported that two people were injured.

The incident has drawn attention because the Salavat complex is located deep inside Russian territory and is considered an important part of the country’s oil refining and petrochemical industry.

Ukraine Targets Russia’s Energy Infrastructure

The Ukrainian General Staff said the Salavat facility is among Russia’s major oil refining and petrochemical complexes and produces petroleum products including gasoline and diesel.

The reported attack comes amid a series of strikes targeting Russia’s oil refining infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities have increasingly targeted energy-related facilities as part of their broader campaign against Russia’s strategic and economic infrastructure.

Fourth Major Oil Refinery Attack in Three Days

According to Ukrainian claims, the Salavat incident was the fourth major attack on Russian oil refining capacity within three days.

The latest strike highlights Ukraine’s growing focus on Russia’s energy sector and the ability of its long-range drones to reach targets far from the Ukrainian border.

However, the full extent of the damage to the Salavat refinery and its impact on production remains unclear. Independent verification of the reported damage is also awaited.
